  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Launches seventh homer

    Rotowire

D'Arnaud went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Yankees.

While his playing time has been limited in June, d'Arnaud is starting to make the most of it. He has a homer in two of his last three games, giving him seven long balls on the year. The catcher is at a .242/.310/.464 slash line with 24 RBI, 21 runs scored, 13 doubles and no stolen bases over 171 plate appearances. While Sean Murphy has struggled at the plate this season, he's hitting .244 in June, which has been enough to keep d'Arnaud in the backup catcher role.

  • Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Crushes homer in loss

    Rotowire

Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Yankees.

Ozuna opened the scoring with his first-inning homer. He's up to 21 long balls on the year, and he's hit five of them while batting .315 (23-for-73) over 19 contests in June. That's right on track with where he's been all year -- the 33-year-old is hitting .312 with a .986 OPS, 64 RBI, 45 runs scored and no stolen bases over 74 games this season while maintaining his usual spot in the heart of Atlanta's order.

  • Braves' Charlie Morton: Falters against Yankees

    Rotowire

Morton (4-4) allowed five runs on five hits and five walks while striking out four over 5.2 innings to take the loss versus the Yankees on Saturday.

Morton matched his season high with the five walks, something he has done three times this year. He's also given up five or more runs in three of his last five outings. The 40-year-old has done a good job of eating innings, but the results have been mediocre -- he's at a 4.20 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 80:35 K:BB over 79.1 innings through 14 starts. Morton is projected to make his next start on the road versus the White Sox in a makeup game for a rainout from April 3.

  • Braves' Jarred Kelenic: On base three times in win

    Rotowire

Kelenic went 2-for-5 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI in Friday's win over the Yankees.

He extended his hitting streak to eight games with another strong performance. Over 16 games in June, Kelenic is slashing .288/.333/.492 with three doubles, three homers, two steals, seven runs and seven RBI, and the 24-year-old has provided a spark for Atlanta since moving into the leadoff spot.

  • Braves' Ozzie Albies: Flashes power Friday

    Rotowire

Albies went 2-for-5 with a walk, a double, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Friday's win over the Yankees.

The second baseman had a sluggish start to the season, but he appears to be heating up along with the weather. Over the last nine games, Albies is batting .308 (12-for-39) with four doubles, a triple, two homers, seven RBI and 10 runs scored while hitting second in the order behind Jarred Kelenic.

  • Braves' A.J. Minter: Beginning rehab assignment

    Rotowire

Minter (hip) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Rome on Saturday.

Minter has been on the injured list since the end of May due to left hip inflammation, but he has now been given the green light to return to a competitive setting. It's unclear how long the 30-year-old southpaw will remain in the minors, but it shouldn't take long for him to build back up as a reliever. He currently owns a 2.95 ERA and 0.98 WHIP through 21.1 innings on the year, and he will likely reprise his role as Atlanta's main setup man upon returning to the big-league bullpen.

  • Braves' Ramon Laureano: Bangs out three doubles Friday

    Rotowire

Laureano went 3-for-5 with three doubles and an RBI in Friday's 8-1 win over the Yankees.

Making his fourth start since joining the Atlanta roster, Laureano played a key role in an offensive explosion that saw the NL East squad rack up eight extra-base hits on the night. The 29-year-old has gone 6-for-17 (.353) in his new uniform with a homer in addition to Friday's barrage of two-baggers, but a 0:5 BB:K suggests the contact issues that have plagued his big-league career haven't gone away.

  • Braves' Austin Riley: Stays hot Friday

    Rotowire

Riley went 2-for-4 with two walks, a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 8-1 win over the Yankees.

The 27-year-old slugger has flipped the switch in June. Riley has at least one extra-base hit in six of his last seven games, batting a blistering .545 (12-for-22) over that stretch with four doubles, four homers, nine runs and nine RBI. After a rough, injury-plagued start to the season, the power surge has pushed his slash line up to .251/.324/.420.

  • Braves' Matt Olson: Clubs 12th homer

    Rotowire

Olson went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Friday's 8-1 win over the Yankees.

His fourth-inning shot off Carlos Rodon helped chase the southpaw from the game as part of a three-homer, eight-XBH barrage from Atlanta. Olson's bat has come alive in June, and through 74 plate appearances on the month he's slashing .309/.365/.574 with four of his 12 long balls on the year and 10 of his 40 RBI.

  • Braves' Chris Sale: Fans eight Yankees for win No. 10

    Rotowire

Sale (10-2) picked up the win Friday, allowing one run on one hit and three walks over five innings in an 8-1 victory over the Yankees. He struck out eight.

A Jahmai Jones triple in the second inning was the only knock on Sale's line as the veteran lefty fanned at least seven batters for the eighth time in nine starts since the beginning of May. Over that stretch, he's posted a 2.45 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 74:9 K:BB through 55 innings en route to becoming the third pitcher in the majors this season to reach double-digit wins, after the Phillies' Ranger Suarez and the Royals' Seth Lugo. Sale will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in St. Louis.

    Stats

  • Braves' Forrest Wall: Sitting again

    Rotowire

Wall isn't part of the starting lineup Friday against the Yankees.

Wall will give way to Adam Duvall in left field for a second straight game. Jarred Kelenic and Ramon Laureano fill in the rest of the outfield.

    Stats

  • Braves' Reynaldo Lopez: Another scoreless outing

    Rotowire

Lopez (5-2) earned the win Wednesday over the Tigers, allowing seven hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out six.

It's the second straight scoreless outing for Lopez, though he failed to make it through six innings for just the second time in his last six starts. The 30-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to a remarkable 1.57 with a 1.08 WHIP and 76:23 K:BB across 74.1 innings this year. Lopez is currently lined up for a road matchup with the Cardinals early next week in his next start.

  • Braves' Sean Murphy: Breaks out with two homers

    Rotowire

Murphy went 4-for-4 with a pair of two-run homers and three total runs scored in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Tigers.

Murphy extended Atlanta's lead to 3-0 in the third inning with a two-run blast off Tarik Skubal before cranking a second two-run homer in the fifth off Mason Englert. It's the first multi-hit game of the year for Murphy, who was batting just .135 with a lone homer through his first 15 games this season. Perhaps Wednesday's outburst is a sign of things to come for the 29-year-old backstop -- Murphy posted an .843 OPS with 21 homers across 438 plate appearances last year.

  • Braves' Jesse Chavez: Thriving in low-leverage role

    Rotowire

Chavez has a 1.21 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 24:10 K:BB through 29.2 innings over 23 appearances this season.

The 40-year-old right-hander is on his fourth stint with Atlanta during his 17-year career, and Chavez is once again proving to be a valuable piece of the team's bullpen. His low-leverage role limits his fantasy value -- he has zero saves or holds, and his only win came back on March 30 -- but he's worked more than an inning in four of his last seven appearances, helping to keep the team's higher-leverage options fresh.
