Having hearing aids has been a trip, and being able to connect them to Bluetooth has been a game changer. It’s made editing and watching shows, etc. so much easier. But mostly, the editing. Being primarily oral IRL and in video made it tough to edit videos as more and more of my hearing went and headphones weren’t cutting it. Now I’ve had to caption my own videos for about a year now. That was going to be next to impossible for me. Bluetooth connected hearing aids, man. If you could not attend #CES, watch it here https://lnkd.in/dwPNETyeHowever, the answer to "how to shift to a mass...?" was not actually given. Cost and availability are only two of the problems. OTC hearing aids remain hearing aids that many people don’t want to buy or even wear for free, as in European countries. I think that for people with mild to moderate hearing loss, the solution will come from the CE industry, when it figures out how to:1. Introduce and promote augmented hearing without telling people they have hearing loss.2. Design devices so they can be worn all day long3. Make the devices work for at least 15 hours before they need to be recharged.4. Make the fitting or adjustment without an explicit hearing test5. Improve the sound quality in noise so that people with normal hearing can also benefit from the hearing amplification function in certain situations.Then users don’t even have to pay extra for it because it becomes a standard feature. Similar to ANC technology today. Everything under $300.As an industry insider, I can see that these solutions are coming. We are already working on some parts of it.
