rational deal-making of major media companies. comcast should be buying this company for $15 billion. taylor: tough sell in this regulatory environment. >> they will noll allow it. you are left with skydance and a crazy deal. get back to bronfman for a minute i don't think he really had the money lined up. when i looked at the people he had there, i mean there was no kkr. there was no blackstone. i mean it was like fortress and some guy from kazakhstan, borat maybe, i don't know it was the weirdest thing t looked like this was a play. this is my opinion. it is not fact. end on this, looks like a play to get david ellison to throw more money at this deal. he would never go there because he had some good protections. >> you're the deal-maker when you sit on the program, thank you, charlie gasparino -- >> i'm not -- taylor: you're breaking down the deals own this show. for that we are grateful.

closing bell ridges in just about four minutes. we are close to another record here on the dow as you can see, if we stay in the green. that is all we have to do. it would be another record high for the second day in a row. home prices still at a record high in june, but showing signs of a slowdown. the s&p corelogic, case-shiller 20 city house price index rose 4% month over month. prices in the biggest metro areas were up 6 1/2% for the year in june. today's "countdown" closer thinks real estate is a good play for your portfolio. joining us with about six billion dollars in assets under management, howard capital management ceo, portfolio manager vance howard. so why real estate, why now? >> look at the technicals on real estate and you can see the breakout is happening as the market was pushing real estate higher. if we start to drop rates this will be a nice benefit -- taylor: i think we lost him.

we'll try to get him back on the line. again as we count you down just about three minutes here to the closing bell. we'll work on re-establishing that. meanwhile take a look where we are for these markets. as i mentioned the dow was certainly popping up into the green, trying to get to the record high. look at some winners here on the dow. nike up about 1.3%. youhoneywell, visa, coca-cola, jpmorgan. we had a great segment yesterday about the banks. one person said goldman sachs was clearly a big winner. banks certainly here showing some signs of life. take a look at amazon here in terms of some of the big losers. remember the dow is price weight, not a market weight. amazon a big company doesn't necessarily have as much heft in the dow as the s&p 500. known the less it is here down to the downside. some biggest losers on the dow, amazon as you can see. chevron, we talked about the big oil spillover seas.

chevron is down 1%. walt disney down to 90 bucks a share. down about 1%. sales force is an interesting one. they will be getting earnings as well this week. dan ives another one looking at sales force and really thinking this is a company can they participate in that a.i. play? want to take a look at the s&p 500. remember we started out the show. we said we're 1% away from the record high. who are the big winners today in the s&p 500? recent med, insulet corporation. royal caribbean is interesting one with norwegian cruise lines. those are up three to 5%. how are we thinking about travel in this environment? we talked a lot about cracks in the consumer on the lower end. mizuho had a great study though some of the cracks in the consumer are trying to peek up into the higher end consumer. maybe that's another reason why some of those cruise lines are

doing well today. you can see stocks to the downside. take a look at s&p 500 losers. walgreen's boots alliance down 9%. paramount, we were talking about that stock with charlie gasparino, off 7%. a little bit of losers here. remember this time tomorrow, it is all about nvidia. all right. let's do it. drop the confetti, right? the dow clinching the second straight record close if these gains hold. pretty incredible like we said. the s&p 500 so close, just about 1% away from that. so as you can see the nasdaq -- [closing bell rings] a little bit of an underperformer here but really small caps not doing well, taking it on the chin. anyways that does it for "the claman countdown." "kudlow" is next. ♪. david: hello, everyone, welcome to a s
